Deon Departs for Stateside Scholarship

20/07/2021

Deon Cruickshank played her final game for the club, before heading to the USA to start a soccer scholarship at Iowa Lakes Community College, in Sunday’s win for Dryburgh Athletic Women over East Fife.

The Scotland youth international joined the club in 2017 and has since progressed from the U15’s all the way through to the first team. Her attitude and drive has seen her go from strength to strength and she is sure to be a great success in America.

In her time at Dryburgh Deon has been a part of the East Region Performance Squad, capped by both Scotland U16’s and BGC Scotland U15’s, and has represented the U15’s, U17’s, U21’s and Women’s teams, achieving a league winners medal with the U17’s in 2019.

The 16-year-old was presented with a signed shirt from her teammates following Sunday’s game and was also given the honour of captaining the team on her farewell appearance.

All the best Deon from everyone at Dryburgh Athletic Community Club, as you continue your ‘soccer’ journey with the Lakers.
