Championship Cup trip to the Falkirk Stadium

08/10/2021

Match preview - Falkirk v Dryburgh Athletic

This Sunday's fixture sees Dryburgh heading down to the central belt to the Falkirk Stadium, for their Championship Cup quarter final tie against Falkirk Women.  The Dundee side head into the game on the back of 3 good wins, 2 in the league against Stonehaven and Dundee City West, as well as their memorable 3-1 victory in the previous round against East Fife.

Sundays opponents are long established in Women's football and are the senior side heading up a large community club pathway.  They also head into the game after a run of good form. Their last league game was a 3-1 win against BSC Glasgow, whilst in the previous round of the Cup they had a memorable 4-3 win against Inverness CT.

This win was on the back of an even tighter first round game against United Glasgow, when they won 3-2 after extra time.

Nevertheless, with their recent form Dryburgh should hold no trepidation about the prospect of trying to secure a semi-final spot.

First team coach Owen McKenzie commented "The girls have been working really hard at training and in recent weeks they have showed great commitment to the team and each other.  Their work rate during recent games has been exceptional and I'm sure they will give it their all on Sunday.  Everyone is looking forward to the chance to play another quality side in a great venue"

The match kicks off at 3pm on Sunday 10th October, at Falkirk Stadium, Stadium Way, Grangemouth.
