Scottish Women and Girls in Sport Week

Our Couch 2 Kickabout Women’s Recreational sessions re-started after the October break this week. It’s been great to see friendships being formed and the camaraderie within the group. Not only have new members joined our club, but it’s given a few existing members a chance to experience something different.

No one exemplifies this more than Mother and Daughter combo - Ashley and Kirsty Robertson.

Kirsty has played for Dryburgh Athletic Girls for 4 years now experiencing real highs winning the SWF South/East U17s league, a North/East U17s League Cup and a Scottish Cup Final. Not only that, Kirsty started her coaching journey with Dryburgh and is now an experienced youth coach. She regularly coaches with our Dryburgh Dribblers, U7s, U9s Girls.

Mum Ashley is the Girls Secretary and continually works away behind the scenes on Club admin, while also doubling up as a team rep and club photographer.

Ashley has always fancied getting her boots on to emulate Kirsty’s success on the pitch and our new Couch 2 Kickabout Womens recreational group has given Ashley that opportunity.

Ashley commented "If you can't beat them, join them, having supported my daughter Kirsty from Under 11's to now playing SWFL football, joining Womens Rec has given me the fun and friendships that I always saw my daughter Kirsty having. It is a great way of burning calories and improving my fitness and I really look forward to a Wednesday night kick about.”
