Match preview - Championship North
Dryburgh Athletic v Inverness Caledonian Thistle, Sunday 21st November
Sunday's game sees the visit of Inverness CT to the Regional Performance Centre in Caird Park, in the teams' first league meeting of the season, their previous meeting in August having been postponed following a Covid outbreak. It sees the visitors make the 140 mile trip south down the A9/M90, which is one of the longest trips in the league.
Dryburgh head into the fixture after a couple of impressive wins in recent weeks, their League Cup semi final win against Ayr United being followed last weekend by a 5-2 away win against Buchan. The match was notable for some very skillful football from 'Burgh, including an impressive 30 yarder that sailed into the net from recent signing Tiegan Clark, her first goal for the club.
Like Dryburgh, Inverness have had a decent start to the season and currently sit just 3 points behind 'Burgh in the league. They had two wins on the last 2 Sundays in October against Dundee West and Westdyke, but they then lost 2-1 in their most recent game last Sunday in a very tight match against East Fife. Being the main football club for women and girls in the Highlands, Inverness are a big community club, with girls playing from 5 years old through to Under 17s, and a very successful development team in addition to the senior squad.
One thing is for sure about Sunday's game though, it's going to be a cold one, with low temparatures forecast as well as a chilly breeze, so if you are coming along to watch make sure you are wrapped up!
The game kicks off at 2pm at the Regional Performance Centre, Caird Park, so why not come along to cheer on the teams. Admission is £2, children and Dryburgh players/coaches free.
REMINDER that a week on Sunday all roads lead to the Falkirk Stadium for the SWF Championship Cup Final vs Montrose 2pm KO.
Anyone looking to attend, please contact the club as we have a limited amount of tickets still available.
