Fife friendly test for 14s

19/08/2024

Dryburgh Athletic Girls U14’s had their first game since the summer break on Saturday. It was down the M90 to Rosyth for a 9.30am kick off as the young Burgh side took on  Dunfermline Reds.

The Reds are a good side, sitting in the top half of the league above Dryburgh, so it was set to be a good test.

Dryburgh won the toss and kicked off and it was the Burgh who would score first. A nice run down the wing by Katie, she cut into the box and Milly Smith finished off the move well.

Then Dunfermline took control of the game, using their experience to their advantage, and went into a 3 goal lead to go in 4-1 up at the break.

Into the second half and it was Dunfermline who scored next to make it 5-1.

Dryburgh however never gave up and carried on with their game plan. This led to Ava Docherty getting her first goal for the team to make it 5-2.

Burgh were getting back into the game and they were having a better half, however Dunfermline then extended their lead to 6-2.

Again, the Burgh didn’t stop and after some nice play through the Dunfermline midfield, Milly Smith smashed a shot in the top corner  for 6-3.

As the game drew to an end, Dunfermline got another goal to see it end in a 7-3 victory for the home side.

It was a good run out for Dryburgh. With it being the first game in a good 7 weeks and up against a better opponent, the coaches were satisfied with their performance.

Final score:

Dunfermline Reds 7-3 Dryburgh Athletic Girls 14’s
