Dailly Dryburgh Delight

22/05/2025

Dryburgh Athletic Women are delighted to announce the signing of Layla Dailly from Spartans for the upcoming the 2025/26 Barclays SWF Championship season.

Layla joins Dryburgh after having a great grounding through her youth career where she spent 8 at Dundee East, progressing to the National Performance League, lifting silverware along the way.

During this time, Layla was selected for the SFA East Regional Performance squad for 3 years, Scottish Schools East Regional U15 team twice and BGC Scotland U15 squad twice. She’s also played in Scottish schools  cup finals with Grove Academy U18s over last few years.

Most recently Layla has played for Spartans Next Gen Team. Unfortunately suffered an ACL injury in 2023. However, she’s now back training, fit and healthy and played since November with Spartans U17 Next Gen.

Next step, Dryburgh Athletic Women

On making the move to Dryburgh, Layla said: “"I am really Excited to join Dryburgh. This is my first step into Women’s football. I think this will be the perfect club to help with my development and I am delighted to become a part of the team!"

Dryburgh’s Owen MacKenzie, commented on the clubs latest capture: “We are delighted to bring Layla in well ahead of new season starting. Layla is a talented, versatile young player we have been well aware of for a few years and admired. We are delighted she’s chosen Dryburgh as the next step in her football development and I’m sure she will be a very good addition to the squad. Thanks to Spartans for their professionalism concluding this deal.”

Welcome to Dryburgh, Layla!
