Exciting new role for Hassett

23/05/2025

Dryburgh Athletic Women are delighted to announce the appointment of Katie Hassett as Player Coach for 2025/26 Barclays SWF Championship season.

The experienced defender first joined Dryburgh from Forfar Farmington in October 2020 and has made 89 appearances in Maroon since, scoring 4 goals.

Katie has been a key figure at the heart of the Burgh defence over the past few seasons, playing a vital role in the 2021 Championship Cup winning team. She will continue to play an important role on the pitch, whilst also joining the coaching staff for the coming season.

On the season ahead and her new role, Katie commented: “I’m very excited to be given this opportunity for the coming season. I feel lucky to be along side some great coaches, that I know I can learn from. A big thank you to the club for asking me to be part of this exciting new role.”

Dryburgh’s John Beatt commented “We are delighted that Katie has accepted this new position at the Club and are sure she will be a valuable addition to the coaching staff.

She has a wealth of playing experience and fantastic leadership qualities which she’s shown more than ever, on and off the park, this past year. That's included supporting the Championship players and the youth players at Dryburgh.

Whilst now working as part of the backroom staff we also see Katie continuing to be a real asset on the park with the team”.

Good luck, Katie!
