Barclays Scottish Women’s Championship
Sunday 10th August
Dryburgh Athletic Women v Inverness CT Women
After the summer break it’s back down to league business on Sunday for our Dryburgh Women Championship side. With 3 useful pre-season games under our belt, our competitive matches resume with Inverness Caley Thistle Women being our first league visitors of the season.
Over the last few seasons our games against the Highlanders have always been close, with a number of draws or games where there has only been 1 or 2 goals in it. Last season was no exception, with the most recent matches between the teams being a 2-0 away defeat in the autumn followed by a 1-1 draw in Dundee back in February.
This year’s Championship consists of many familiar teams from previous seasons, but some new faces too. We’ll be facing newly promoted teams Armadale and Bonnyrigg, as well Ayr United and Rossvale who have both dropped down from SWPL2.
The Championship will no doubt be as close and exciting as last season, and although we narrowly lost out on a top six place last season, we are hoping that Sunday’s game will give us 3 points and a flying start towards a successful league campaign.
Sunday’s match kicks off at 1pm at New Beechwood Park.
