Sunday’s opening Barclays SWF Championship fixture against Inverness saw a youthful Dryburgh side go down 1–0, despite controlling large spells of the game in a performance full of positives.
For our long-serving full back, Gabrielle Watt, it marked a significant milestone. Not only did Gabby make her 100th first-team appearance for the club, but she was also given the honour of captaining the team she has grown up playing for.
Gabby epitomises the spirit and values of Dryburgh, both as a player and as a coach within our youth set-up. Her hard work, determination, and commitment—on and off the park—make her a fantastic role model for younger players.
On the pitch, Gabby has excelled over recent seasons, earning a regular spot in the first team and ultimately reaching this remarkable milestone. An energetic and diligent full back, she is equally comfortable going forward, often providing assists thanks to the quality of her delivery from wide areas. She also has an eye for a goal, and remains the only Dryburgh player ever to score in a Scottish Cup Final.
Congratulations, Gabby! Here’s to the next 100!
