Barclays Scottish Women’s Championship
Sunday 17th August
Dryburgh Athletic Women v Renfrew Ladies
We are back at new Beechwood Park on Sunday for our second game of the season, with this weekend’s opponents Renfrew Ladies. Both teams will be keen to get back on track after losing the first league weekend’s fixtures, with our Dryburgh girls especially unlucky following their 1-0 defeat by Inverness CT women.
The match looked like it was heading for a goalless draw, however right at the death Inverness scored a last minute winner to win the game and head up the A9 with the three points.
Meanwhile, Renfrew Ladies had a tough away game last weekend against league newcomers Bonnyrigg. The home side got off to a flyer with several goals early in the game, sprinting to a 6-0 lead at half time. Despite a second half rally, Renfrew never recovered, with the final score being 7-2.
Last season’s matches between Dryburgh and Renfrew were both incredibly tight. In October the away fixture ended up in a 4-4 draw, then at the end of March back in Dundee, with both teams fighting for a top six spot, Renfrew snatched the game 3-2 in what was a pulsating game from beginning to end.
Sunday’s match kicks off at 1pm at New Beechwood Park.
