It’s the start of an exciting new chapter tomorrow as our Women’s Development team welcome Forfar Farmington to New Beechwood Park in their first-ever fixture in the SWF Development League Cup group stage. The new league campaign will follow in January.
Over the summer, there have been big changes on and off the pitch. Scott Barclay takes charge as Head Coach, joined by Ross Penman, Fiona MacDonald and Gordon Drummond on the coaching staff, with Reece Watt continuing in his role.
The squad has also been strengthened with the arrivals of Abi Bennett, Belle Thomson, Teighan Milne, Charis Taylor, Celeste McKeague, Emily Cooper, Neave Murray and Poppy Jamieson, who have all worked tirelessly throughout pre-season.
The team also boasts an incredible 17 Dryburgh Girls Graduates who have all come through the clubs youth pathway into the senior game.
At the heart of the team, long-serving defender and Dryburgh Girls Graduate Carly Lockett has been named Captain for the season. On the eve of the opener, she said:
“The girls have all worked really hard in preseason and we’re all buzzing to get the season going. We’ve all built a great bond away from football which has helped us on the pitch too. We are looking to start the season the way we wish to go on.”
Good luck to the girls and coaches — here’s to a successful and enjoyable season ahead!
