Barclays Scottish Women’s Championship
Sunday 14th September
Dryburgh Athletic Women v Ayr United Women
This Sunday we are back at home after being on our travels two weeks ago. With last Sunday being a rest week, hopefully our girls will have fresh legs and keen to play their best against this weekend’s opponents, high flying Ayr United Women.
Our last game two weeks ago was our first ever against league newcomers Armadale Thistle. After a fairly even first half our awesome Dryburgh squad stretched out in the second half, with an excellent performance ending up with a 5-3 win. The result puts us in the top half of the table and was testament to lots of hard graft from right across the team.
Our opponents Ayr United make the long trip through to Dundee from the west coast, and is one of their furthest away league games of the season. The league leaders have maximum points from their four games so far, with their most recent league game being a narrow 4-3 home win against Bonnyrigg Rose. However, in their national League Cup fixture last weekend, Ayr again had a very tight result, but this time they narrowly lost out to League One side Glenrothes Strollers, who bagged a winner in the 89th minute to win the match 2-1.
So no doubt Ayr will want to bounce back from that result, but of course our Dryburgh girls will also want to keep their momentum going. In other words, this is going to be yet another tight match and no doubt will be an exciting game to come and watch.
