Dryburgh Athletic Development 4–2 East Fife Development

Dryburgh’s development side made it back-to-back wins in the League Cup group stage, defeating East Fife 4–2 to remain top of the table.

The match began evenly, and it was East Fife who struck first when their striker found space in the box and slid a composed finish beyond Abbie Reid.

Dryburgh quickly grew into the game, dominating possession and finding a deserved equaliser. Teighan Milne delivered a pinpoint cross which Abi Bennett bravely nodded past the keeper. Momentum swung in Dryburgh’s favour, and they soon took the lead when Teighan slipped a pass through for Caisey Gowans, who lashed a spectacular strike into the top corner. Caisey wasn’t done there, she doubled her tally with a stunning free kick from 25 yards that left the keeper helpless, giving Dryburgh a commanding 3–1 advantage at the break.

The second half proved a tighter affair, with Dryburgh threatening from corners but unable to put the game beyond reach. East Fife were handed a lifeline when a defensive mix-up resulted in an own goal, cutting the deficit.

Dryburgh responded well, however, and sealed the points late on. A ball over the top looked to be drifting away, but Abi Bennett refused to give it up, beating the keeper to it and finishing calmly to secure a 4–2 win.
