Match preview

Barclays Scottish Women’s Championship

Sunday 5th October

Dryburgh Athletic Women v Falkirk Women

For the second weekend in a row we are back at New Beechwood Park, with Sunday’s match being a tantalising fixture against league leaders Falkirk.

Last weekend’s 3-1 win over Stenhousemuir has given the girls a boost as we head into Sunday’s game. An Emily Arthur double in the first half gave us the advantage, with a Rachel Robbie penalty sealing the win late on. The three points brings us up to 13 points in the league table, and we are now level with Stenny and Renfrew in joint third place.

Meanwhile our visitors Falkirk are sitting clear at the top of the division on 19 points, with a very impressive 6 wins out of 7 in their games so far. Last weekend they won with a solitary goal scored in the 70th minute against Bonnyrigg, and then held on to claim the three points. Over the previous two weekends, Falkirk had 2 impressive victories, including a 4-2 away win against Ayr United and a 3-0 home win against Armadale Thistle.

Whilst our visitors will be in no mood to give anything away in their quest to remain at the top of the table, meanwhile our girls of course will be keen to maintain their recent good form. So there’s no doubt this weekend’s game will be keenly fought, and with plenty excitement guaranteed. As ever, we are looking forward to welcoming supporters of both teams to New Beechwood to cheer on the teams.
