Women’s Scottish Gas Cup
Sunday 2nd November
Inverness CT Women v Dryburgh Athletic Women
Dryburgh are making another long journey for the second weekend in a row, this time up the A9 to Inverness for a Scottish Cup tie against Inverness Caley Thistle.
Last weekend’s long trip to the west coast was a fruitful one, with the team winning 8-2 against Greenock Morton. It was a strong display from the squad, with 5 different scorers contributing to the overall tally.
Meanwhile this weekend’s opponents Inverness are no strangers, with games against them in the last few years typically being very tight scorelines. Indeed the first game of this season at New Beechwood was very tight and looked to be heading for a scoreless draw, but the Highlanders scored a late goal to take the three points.
Their recent form has been mixed, with them having a tough game in the League Cup last weekend, losing away to Forfar 7-1. Whilst they will be looking to bounce back from that this weekend, meanwhile Dryburgh are looking for revenge for that defeat earlier in the season, so no doubt both sides will be giving it their all to try and get through to the next round.
The match kicks off at 12.30pm and is at Millburn Academy in Inverness, meaning an early start for us to set out on the long trip north.
C’mon the ‘Burgh!
