Reece Watt Appointed Head Coach of Dryburgh Athletic Girls U16s
Dryburgh Athletic are delighted to announce Reece Watt as the new Head Coach of the Girls U16s, with Reece stepping into the role with immediate effect with his first focus on player recruitment.
Reece has a strong connection to the club and brings a wide range of experience across both grassroots and senior football. He has already been involved within the club, working in a player development role within the senior setup, and now takes on the next step of that journey with the U16s.
Speaking on his new role, Reece said:
“I’m delighted to be taking on the role of head coach with our new U16s team. I’m really looking forward to getting started with the girls, as I’ve heard nothing but positive things from their current coaches. Hopefully we can have a positive season and continue to develop the players both as a team and individually.”
Reece is no stranger to Dryburgh, having played for the club from the age of 7 right through to U18s, winning back-to-back league cups and receiving a 10-year service award. He has also coached within Dryburgh Athletic Girls from the younger age groups all the way up to senior football, including being part of the U18s league-winning side.
Alongside his club involvement, Reece has built strong coaching experience elsewhere:
• Studied Sports Coaching & Development at Abertay University
• 6 years with Dundee FC Community Trust, including time with the Dundee Pre-Academy
• Personal Development Coach with Box Soccer
• Worked closely with KM Skills, delivering 1-to-1 sessions across various age groups
• Part of Arbroath’s first Women’s coaching team
• UEFA C Licence (Phase 3 completed – November 2025)
• SFA Level 3 Talent ID Qualified
• Dundee Sports Awards Volunteer of the Year nominee
• Former Senior First Team Scout at Berwick Rangers
• Currently scouting with Stenhousemuir FC (League One)
This appointment is a great step forward for the Girls pathway, with Reece bringing strong club values, modern coaching ideas, and a clear focus on player development.
We wish Reece all the best in his new role.
