A dominant performance from our Development squad today, controlling possession throughout and constantly looking a threat.
East Fife worked hard, but found themselves on the back foot early as Lucy Banks opened the scoring inside the first two minutes.
Deon Cruickshank added a second with a composed right-foot finish from 8 yards before the Lucia Milne show began.
After Lucy was brought down in the box, Lucia stepped up and confidently fired her penalty high into the net to mark her first goal in maroon. We went into the break 3–0 up.
A slightly shaky start to the second half allowed East Fife to pull one back, but that gave us the push we needed. From then on, we regained control, created plenty of chances, and Lucia went on to score another three superb goals to complete a fantastic four-goal debut. A late strike sealed a 6–1 win for the Burgh.
Head Coach Scott Barclay commented “Really pleased with the performance today. The focus was on getting the ball down and playing a passing, possession-based game and the girls delivered that from the first whistle. A great team effort, especially in the heat and with limited substitutions”.
POTM: Lucia Milne - 4 goals, excellent movement, and great hold-up play. A perfect debut.
Special mention to Sarah Herd as well - outstanding across the full 90 minutes and didn’t put a foot wrong. A brilliant first home game in maroon.
