Long serving Dryburgh Athletic Boys coach Stuart Cochrane has decided to step down from his role with the 2006’s. He will however remain at the club, coaching the 2011’s and 2015’s sides.
Stuart spent 9 years with the 2006’s - taking them from fun 4’s right through to under 16’s.
Under Stuart’s tutelage the 2006’s went from strength to strength, culminating in an incredible treble win in 2019. In that season the team were undefeated in the league and added both the Marshall and East Region Cup’s to their league triumph.
The East Region Cup was particularly Special as they became the first Dryburgh Athletic team to win it in the clubs 50 year history.
Reflecting on his 9 years with the 2006’s, Stuart spoke of ‘good memories’, saying:
“It's been a pleasure to work with so many talented kids over the years and would like to thank everyone who has been part of our journey, making so many good memories together.
“Special thank you to Rhys Stewart, Bobby Shirkey, Ben Mulholland and Bradley Wilson,
who have been part of the team from day one.
“Also I’ve got to give a mention to the gaffer, Stevie Hennessy - different class.”
Also moving on are 2006’s players Jay Cochrane and Rhys Stewart, who have both been offered the chance to sign Pro Youth for Montrose FC U16’s.
The boys have been with the club now for around 9 years and they move on with our best wishes.
