Glebe park to host Dryburgh HOME game

Match preview

SWF Championship North

Dryburgh Athletic v Dundee City West

Everyone at Dryburgh welcomes the clocks changing, Spring and the better weather, as well as our first evening fixture of the season!

Tuesday evening’s game between these 2 Dundee teams will be their second match this season. The first game took place in early October on a sunny autumnal day at Downfield Park, when ‘Burgh ran out 8-1 winners.

This game will be a little bit different. Due to the lack of an available pitch in Dundee, the match will be played in the unique surroundings of Glebe Park in Brechin, with its famous hedge covering one end of the stadium. The ground of course is the famous home of Brechin City, who currently play in the Highland League, but are keen to promote women’s football in the Angus area and as such are showcasing this Championship North league tie.

Both teams have a quick turnaround from having matches on Sunday, Dryburgh having won their home tie against Buchan, whilst Dundee City West lost their away fixture at East Fife. The teams also experienced contrasting weather for their matches on Sunday - whilst Glenesk Park in Dundee was sunny and warm, Bayview Stadium in Methil was blanketed in fog!

Dryburgh are fortunate to be going into Tuesday’s match with healthier squad number than of late. Recent months have seen various injuries and covid related absences, however as the squad heads towards a hectic spell of matches in April, it’s good to see players coming back in time for the final push towards the end of the season.

Tuesday night’s match kicks off at 7.30pm at Glebe Park, Smithbank Road, Brechin. Admission is £2 for adults, children free, and we look forward to seeing you there!
